The Kindness Video that Circled the Globe

The best way to find yourself

is to lose yourself in the service to others.                                                      Mahatma Gandhi

A Kindness Challenge is an opportunity for people to commit to perform small, consistent kind acts over 21 days. According to the folks at KindSpring, who provide a hosting platform for challenges, these actions can create a significant impact in our personal lives and in our community. When done by groups of people, the impact ripples out even farther.

           A 21-Day Kindness Challenge launched on September 11, 2013.

5908 people from 98 countries signed up for the challenge.

Together, they pledged 124,068 acts of kindness.

Nimo Patel, a former rapper, living and volunteering at the Gandhi Ashram in India, was inspired to write this music to commemorate the event.  An intercontinental team of volunteers, working out of their homes, joined together to create

“Being Kind.”

Videos from all from all over the world were combined to create the film, including scenes of under-privileged children that Nimo worked with near the Ashram.

Some of the lyrics speak clearly of the kindness path we are on together.

“In this life, as we know,
When our hearts are aligned,
The magic unfolds,
One small act at a time.”

“And soon enough, you and me ... we'll be outta time,
And kindness will be all we can leave behind.”

This is an uplifting reminder that kindness really is all we can leave behind, but it isn’t a small thing.

It is beyond measure.

Enjoy the music, and your journey.

  1. This music about Kindness brings smiles, love and kindness to ones heart and soul. It’s very contagious too!

I was at an ecstatic dance this morning outside in one of our beautiful parks dancing for 2 hours. I observed the joy and kindness that people were experiencing with each other in addition to the warm sunny weather too! Another common theme was that most people were smiling at each other or to themselves as they danced away in this huge field by the water. I can see that music is a great venue to unite us with kindness.

    • Thanks, Maggie, for sharing your ecstatic dance experience. Music really is a powerful way to unite us.
